Background and aims: The use of theory in qualitative research can be challenging for those who have not received training in this or who are new to publishing this type of research.
Description of workshop: This symposium aims to help people gain confidence in using theory in their own work and in reading and applying theory-based qualitative research papers.
Methods and format: Participants will be presented with three examples of the use of theory in qualitative projects. The three examples chosen will lead the delegates through a series of approaches to using theory.
Delegates will have the opportunity to raise their own issues and questions for discussion.
This symposium is designed for early/mid career researchers (including Masters and PhD students) who are new to using theory in qualitative research.
Number of delegates: Suggest up to 30 delegates in a 90 minute session.
