INHSU EMCR Leadership Award
The INHSU EMCR Leadership Award recognises bold, inclusive, and collaborative leadership by early to mid-career researchers working to improve the health and human rights of people who use drugs. More than recognition, the award supports continued growth through mentorship and international exposure.
- Nine-month mentorship with a senior academic from the INHSU network
- Complimentary INHSU conference registration and travel scholarship
- 15-minute plenary slot at the conference (10-minute presentation + award ceremony)
- Open to researchers within 10 years of completing their most recent degree, working in drug user health and rights
- Must be an INHSU member and an INHSU EMCR Special Interest Group member (free for students and early post-docs)
Jude Byrne Emerging Female Leader Award
Named in honour of drug user rights activist Jude Byrne and delivered in partnership with the International Network of People Who Use Drugs (INPUD), this award provides two emerging female leaders each year with a transformative professional development experience.
- Nine-month personalised mentorship program with INPUD
- Full scholarship to attend and present at the annual INHSU conference
- Complimentary INHSU membership
- Open to women with lived experience of drug use, early-to-mid career, with a demonstrated commitment to harm reduction or drug policy reform
The Philip Bruggmann Lecture Award
The Philip Bruggmann Lecture Award honours the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Philip Bruggmann, co-founder of INHSU and a tireless advocate for hepatitis C elimination and the rights of people who use drugs. This prestigious award celebrates individuals who embody Philip’s spirit of innovation, empathy, and unwavering dedication.
- Recognises exceptional leadership in hepatitis C and harm reduction
- Awarded every two years following review by the INHSU Board
- Open to self-nominations and nominations by others
- Recipients receive honorary lifetime INHSU membership
- Includes the opportunity to deliver the Philip Bruggmann Lecture at a future INHSU conference
- Fosters a lasting tradition of inspiration and excellence within the INHSU community
