The International Network on Health, Hepatitis, and Substance Users (INHSU) is a not-for-profit membership organisation. As such, we adhere to specific regulations and governance to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of resources. This includes an elected Board, General Annual Meetings, Annual Reports and Official Statutes.
Annual General Assembly Meetings
The General Assembly Meeting (GAM) is INHSU’s highest decision-making body. It is the membership’s opportunity to review the network’s work and vote on important matters. The GAM is held annually, usually during our annual conference each October.
Our board in focus
- Composition. Our board consists of at least three and no more than 12 members, including a President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Each board member serves a three-year term and can stand for re-election
- Election process. Board members are elected by INHSU members via a formal nomination and election process. Additionally, the board may appoint up to two co-opted members to fill identified skills or representation gaps
- Leadership selection. The board self-selects leadership positions, including President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Majority rules, with the President having the final say in case of a tie
- Succession planning. To ensure a smooth transition, the board selects a President-Elect (incoming) one year before their presidential term begins. Board members must serve at least one three-year term before being eligible for the President-Elect position

INHSU is a registered Not for Profit in Switzerland and Australia. These documents outline how the organisation is structured and governed and the relationship between the two entities.
